Back by popular demand!
In this workshop, Vivian Rodriguez will teach the popular image transfer technique of ceramic lithography. You'll learn how to transfer black-and-white images onto clay with precision and clarity.
Vivian will share her tips and tricks for achieving sharp, stable images that hold up through both bisque and glaze firings. You’re encouraged to bring your own drawings or choose from a selection of illustrations to create original, personalized designs.
Students must bring:
• Leatherhard ceramic pieces for you to transfer images onto (this technique works better on white or lighter coloured clay).
50g of black ceramic stain powder (or any other colour you prefer - a darker colour is recommended). Ceramic stain can be purchased from pottery supply stores.
• Images that have been printed using a toner printer. (Like those use in Public Libraries or the Stationary Warehouse). Images with bold lines and good contrasts are preferred.
• Please remember to reverse any text, numbers or characters. Different types of printer machines have different concentrations and qualities of iron oxide, which can affect the lightness or darkness of the image. Some may not even work at all. Vivian recommends photocopy machines at public libraries.
