Join tutor Hedy Ankers as she discusses how to make a slab-built vessels!

In this workshop students will learn to make slabs without slab or wooden rollers, or measurers, and about their handling, using heat guns, joining, adding appendages, trimming and clay use-by life, and pitfalls with this method. You will make at least one slab built vessel. The only experience you need for this workshop is to know how to wedge clay and what a 45 degree angle is!

(Vessel left overnight to be independently hand-detailed the next day. Decorating may be touched on, but not demonstrated).

MATERIALS NEEDED

Students please bring: 
- 3 x 800 gm pieces of fully-wedged clay, firm-ish and in plastic [Any clay but not porcelain unless you are already an expert handler] Grogged or ungrogged e.g MACS Mud buff, Primo Toast, WItt white stoneware 25% .2 grog
- paper slip (recipe provided in HelloClub)
- something to apply slip with
- pair of pantyhose (upcycle win!)
- tools: needle, sharp knife, scratch tool, wooden tools; plastic bag for covering work; clean A5 rag; small towel OR flat A4 sponge-piece to rest work on; green scourer pad; surform [grater] tool if you have one; paper towel or two
