All members are invited to the WPA Membership Conversation:
Sun, 11 Feb 2018, 11am-2:30pm at the WPA rooms
Kia ora koutou – Hi everyone
All WPA members are warmly invited (and gently encouraged!) to a special event – the WPA Membership Conversation. We’ll be using the club rooms on the day, with the conversation running from 11am to 2:30pm. All you need to bring is a plate of food to share for lunch, and your favourite collaborative-and-constructive thinking hat.
What’s the Membership Conversation about?
This is an opportunity for members to come together, share a meal, celebrate who we are and why we are, and take part in a purposeful conversation about the future of the club.
The conversation will be about:
- Celebrating how we got here, and what the WPA means to us
- What it means to be a member, and how membership works
- How we think membership could work in the future
- Specific ideas for how we pay for and contribute to the running of the club
The ideas we come up with will be channelled back into a Membership and Fees working group. The group will present a proposal to members in late Feb/early March, to be voted on at a Special AGM about membership and fees in March (date TBC – sometime in late March).
What will it be like?
The process for the day will follow the World Café facilitation model – a light, relaxed and engaged series of conversations. In World Café, conversations happen mostly in small groups, and your ideas and thoughts are recorded and shared dynamically. The groups change over the session. The space will be set up like a cafe, with food, coffee and tea, and flowers. A committee member will be leading the facilitation, supported by a team of members, including John (the club president).
I can’t come – how can I contribute?
If you can’t come on the day, you’ll still be able to comment on the proposal which will be put together by the Membership and Fees working group after the event. A copy of the proposal will be sent to all members before the Special AGM.
