This course is for non-commercial potters only.
WPA members who regularly advertise their products for sale are not eligible to attend this course.

This course is for experienced potters who are able to centre and work unassisted with at least 1.5 – 2.0 kg of clay. There will be no time available to assist you to learn the necessary skills.
Plate design, wedging, clay centering and how to work your base to prevent cracks, warping and air bubbles.
Throwing plates with three different types of rims: High, low and open.
Trimming plates and drying techniques.
Trimming and or throwing large plate bases.
Participants to provide
- Clay of your choice
- Your preferred throwing and trimming tools
- You will also need bats that are the circumference of your plate projects.
Number of participants
The course is limited to a maximum of 6 participants and needs a minimum of 4 participants to go-ahead.

The course will be over four sessions held in the upstairs room.

- Friday 30 July 6:00pm – 8:30pm
The fee for this course is $240

The not so small print
There can be no refunds after you have been registered on the course and paid the fee. Should you find that you can’t make the course you are allowed to find a suitably experienced substitute.
If you miss a session the tutors are not expected to provide any catch-up time beyond that which can be given in the scheduled times without impacting other participants.
Before confirming your registration the tutors may contact you to make sure that you understand the prerequisite skills required. If the courses is not advertised as suitable for beginners there will be no time to assist participants without the skill to work with the amount of clay specified.
The fee for the course does not include firing or glazing that can be done through the normal club process.
